The number of products offered by Souq.com, according to the Emirati newspaper, The National, reached 8.4 million products in 31 categories, including electronics, fashion, health goods, cosmetics, household appliances and products for young children. Souq.com accounted for 78% of the e-commerce sector in the Middle East and North Africa, and this percentage is likely to increase significantly after Amazon's purchase of this brand. Amazon has more than 40 million products on its site, which confirms the significant impact that the expansion of this global brand will have on the way of shopping in the Middle East, whether online or even through regular stores.
