AMPR Marketing and Public Relations

The networked computers that are used by AMPR Marketing and Public Relations AMPR are cabled together with Cat-5 UTP Ethernet. The Los Angeles facility is composed of a separate room for the president, a reception area for the secretary, an HR department divided into three separate rooms, a financial department divided into three separate rooms, and a large open floor space for the rest of the staff.

The total area of the facility is approximately 4,000 square feet. There are four workgroup switches, one switch for each department (one for president and secretary, one for HR department and so on...). There is one core switch to connect all departments networks to the Internet. The core switch exists in the large open floor space. Wires connecting the hosts to the group work switches, core switch, run along the perimeters of the wall and, in a few cases, cross floor space where staff frequently walk.

Over the past two years, AMPR has acquired more clients who access their entertainment material through their accounts information. During the last few years some companies were under cybercriminal attack, as a result millions of customers' personal information have been breached and stolen by these criminals. These incidents created some concern to AMPR management. Therefore, president McClain called for a meeting to discuss and take all possible precaution steps to avoid or reduce the possibility of occurring such an attack.

Using the information just provided, answer the following questions.

Q1) Focusing on the physical part of the Los Angeles network, research and prepare a report on the costs of upgrading a 40-hosts network with Cat-5e UTP (5GBASE-T), NICs adaptable to the UTP cable, 4 workgroup switches, and one core switch. Include in your report the cost of a standard tool kit for yourself. Do not forget to include in the report any labor costs for installing the new wiring set up. Assume you can hire a wiring technician for $90 an hour. For the 40 hosts, assume the following; [10 marks]
