An agronomist is evaluating the resistance to insect herbivory of a two genetically modified strains of soybean GM and GM vs an unmodified control strain. Fields and are planted with GM soybean, fields and are planted with GM soybean and fields and are planted with the control strain of soybean. Within each field soybean plants are randomly selected and the proportion of leaves on each plant that have suffered insect damage is quantified. The unit of observation in this study is the individual soybean plant. Evaluate the null hypothesis that there is no difference in insect damage between the three strains of soybean. The data from this experiment is pictured below.
A Identify the appropriate statistical test to evaluate the stated null hypothesis. Explain why this test is appropriate, based upon the types of independent and dependent variables, the structure of the data and any relevant assumptions of statistical tests. You should be lenient when it comes to interpreting the normality assumption on this problem.
B Conduct the statistical test that you have chosen. Provide your R script and output. State your conclusions concerning the null hypothesis.
