An individual's culture will largely influence many of their behaviors. Therefore, it is imperative to consider cultural variables when making clinical decisions. ABA providers will have clients whose cultural identities differ from their own, making it even more important for providers to consider the role of their clients' cultures.

It is the ethical responsibility of the ABA provider to develop cultural humility through self-reflection and learning. The on-going movement towards cultural humility will help ABA providers develop culturally-informed programming that reflects their clients' values, beliefs, and cultural practices. It will also help ABA providers become aware of their own biases and how they influence their service delivery.
