An Investment Policy Statement (IPS) is a document drafted between a portfolio manager and a client that outlines the general investment goals and objectives of a client and describes the strategies that the manager should employ to meet these objectives. For this discussion, you will write a personal IPS that will guide your personal investment decisions. Specific items you may want to include are the contribution goal, risk objective, time horizon, expected rate of return, benchmarks you will consider, investment strategy, and overall approach to achieving your financial goals. Discuss items that will help guide your investment decision-making process. Include at least three quantitative guidelines that you will employ to make sure you adhere to a long-term investment strategy. The statements do not have to be extremely detailed and exhaustive (bullet points preferred) but should be thoughtfully written and provide a clear guideline you can refer to, especially during times of market turmoil. Refer to at least two of the above articles and other research you may do as you discuss the rationale and thought process behind your statement.
