An RCIC has experience processing refugee claims for a particular religious group that is fleeing persecution by an authoritarian government. The client fled to Canada and claimed asylum status when they landed at Toronto Pearson international airport. They were list with conditions and we're informed that a CBSA officer would refer the claims to the RPD if eligible. One month later, the hearings officer sent the client a notice of hearing. The client shows up at the RCIC's office without an appointment and retains the RCIC to prepare for the hearing at the RPD in 4 weeks.

The RCIC realizes that it will be very difficult to obtain witness statements and supporting documents from the client's religious group . However, the client is very knowledgeable and can provide accurate details through oral testimony.
