Analysis Plan Assignment This assignment is to be carried out in conjunction with the Analysis Report assignment. This serves as the plan which will be accomplished and reported in the Analysis Report. You will first craft this plan which describes the procedures and processes to be followed and provides the research context of your study. You will turn in this Analysis Plan for feedback. You will then put this plan into action, collect data following your procedures, analyze your data, write up the results, and turn this in as the subsequent Analysis Report assignment. Task: Create an analysis plan fitting for a two-way or higher order factorial analysis of variance and for a multiple regression with a minimum three predictor variables (in essence two different analytic plans). Related, but distinct variables will be chosen to accomplish this task. Your ANOVA analysis plan must contain variables fitting for ANOVA. Your multiple regression analysis plan must contain variables fitting for multiple regression. Overview/Introduction to the Analysis to be Conducted In this section you will provide an overview to the topic or topics to be investigated in the statistical analyses you will be conducting. Provide a broad contextual introduction to the topical areas that you will be studying. This is an appropriate place for presenting background literature (citations) or theoretical information (theories/theorists) which would better set up the context in which your study would operate. Speak about what you are trying to accomplish and what led you to this area. In essence, in this section you are trying to provide the explanation and rationale behind your analyses. You are not presenting, however, the specifics of your study in this section, but setting the stage for your study. Purpose of the Study Once the topic has been introduced and overviewed, it is appropriate to follow up with the specific purposes of your study. In this, you will explicitly state and explain the purpose of your analyses. It is possible that one purpose leads to both analyses. Alternatively, one broad purpose could lead to two \"sub-purposes\Analysis Report Assignment This assignment is to be carried out in conjunction with the Analysis Plan assignment. This serves as the report of the findings of carrying out the plan. Task: Carry out your analysis plan in regards to data collection and analysis through factorial ANOVA and multiple regression. Report on the findings in this assignment. Create a formalized report of your findings, including sections discussed below. *Your SPSS output should be turned in with this assignment. SPSS output tables should NOT be a part of this report. Adapt any information you wish to present into appropriate APA style tables. The following lays out aspects which should be addressed in your report. There are four sections of this report. They should not be labeled as sections in the document, rather they should carry with them their naturally occurring headings (such as intro, methods, findings, discussion). Section One (Adapted from Analysis Plan Assignment) Introduction to the analysis to be conducted. Introduce and overview the topics investigated. End with the purpose of your study. Make past tense (e.g. the purpose of this study WAS, rather than IS) Section Two (Adapted from Analysis Plan Assignment) Research Methodology Introduce research questions, null hypotheses, variables, participants/data sources, and data collection procedures. o When presenting your participants, alter your information to reflect participants which you actually attained, not what you had planned. Discuss any pertinent demographic information or other information you have on your participants in this section (e.g. if you were using gender as a variable, then you would include information on how many females/how many males, do this for all participant variables involved in your study). Include a new section (if not present in your Analysis Plan assignment) which outlines the statistical analyses conducted, including information on variables utilized in each analyses. Make past tense (e.g. questions for this study WERE, not will be or are). Section Three Findings Descriptive analysis. o Present an overview of the descriptive statistics of each variable involved in the study. For variables involved in the ANOVA, consider presenting and discussing the mean and standard deviation for the DV overall and for subgroups (your grouping IVs). For variables involved in the multiple regression, consider presenting and discussing means and standard deviations of the DV and any continuous predictor variables. For non-continuous predictor variables, consider presenting information on the frequencies or other appropriate information. o Create and include appropriate charts/graphs/tables. o Appropriate APA reporting conventions are expected. Factorial ANOVA. o Discuss the assumptions of the factorial ANOVA, including information on how each were tested and your conclusions on each assumption. o Present and discuss the findings of the factorial ANOVA (including tested interactions, any tests of simple main effects which followed significant interactions, main effects, and any post hoc analyses utilized). o Create and include appropriate charts/graphs/tables o Appropriate APA reporting conventions are expected. Multiple Regression. o Discuss the assumptions of the multiple regression, including information on how each were tested and your conclusions on each assumption. o Present and discuss the findings of the multiple regression (including information on standard error of estimate, the coefficient of multiple determination, the adjusted coefficient of multiple determination, the test of significance of the coefficient of multiple determination, the partial regression coefficients for each predictor, and the tests of significance for these partial regression coefficients). o Create and include appropriate charts/graphs/tables o Appropriate APA reporting conventions are expected. Section Four Discussion Discuss your findings in terms of what you have found and in terms of what this means. Explain in detail what you can conclude from your findings from each analysis. Discuss the implications of your findings (perhaps for practitioners, schools, educators, etc...whoever your audience might be). Grading This analysis report will be graded holistically within seven areas. Each area will receive a score from 0 (work is not provided) to 10 (work is of excellent quality). Each area will be weighted as described below, resulting in a score from 0-100. This assignment is worth 25% of your final course grade.
