ANALYSIS

  1. Why is Logger Pro set up to report the time between every other blocking of the Photogate? Why not the time between every block?

A pendulum period is defined as thetime it takes the pendulum to make one full back-and forth swing. The Logger Pro is watching the pendulum swinging back and forth and needed to only record each period, a full swing, not half period.

  1. Using either Graphical Analysis or graph paper, plot a graph of pendulum period vs. amplitude in degrees. Scale each axis from the origin (0,0). Does the period depend on amplitude? Explain. It does not appear that the period depends on amplitude. As the amplitude increases, the period stays consistent at around 2.
