She lives at a Jewish nursing home where she has been a resident for the past 5 years. Mrs. Goldstein loves to have fresh flowers in her room. She also loves to watch old television shows. For all of her rational and competent adult life, Mrs. Goldstein has kept kosher. She is a devout Jewish woman who has always expressed a deep faith and pride in her Jewish heritage. She has always kept a kosher lifestyle. Lately, however, Mrs. Goldstein has started demanding that the staff give her ham for her mealssomething that she would never have requested in her rational state. When they refuse, Mrs. Goldstein gets upset. The staff are uncertain of how to respond.
