Harry, Carrie, and Sam own a Food Ready grocery store. In order to attract new customers, they decide to have an event this Saturday where food and drink samples are served. On Monday, Harry, Carrie, and Sam meet with Store Manager William to find out how the event went. William reports the following issues
Assess each issue, and identify the type of tort and potential liability to Food Ready.
When Tony comes into the store, he slips on the wet floor from drink samples that had dropped.
When Oscar is shopping he is questioned and detained by store security guard Jessie for shoplifting. William is also concerned that Jessie was hired before his background check came back and the background check revealed that he had been fired for detaining a person in his former workplace.
Brenda calls William to report that she was in the store on Saturday and sampled the food but then went to the hospital with food poisoning.
Franny spoke to William on Saturday at the event when she sampled the chicken salad and broke her tooth on a cherry pit.
