Analyze the Marens, Baxter and Rarick (B&R), and Mintzberg, Simons and Basu (MSB) articles from a chronological standpoint based on what periods of time they are discussing (i.e. Marens discusses the early scholars of the 1930s -1970s, B&R the shift to a narrow business education in the 1970s and 1980s, and MSB to what we see today). Explain each of the authors arguments and concepts about why we see the business practices and social outcome we see today. What evidence do they use to support their arguments? Does the Acemoglu, et. al. study support the arguments of Baxter and Rarick? Mintzberg and colleagues? Why or why not? How do the concepts from Marens to MSB to B&R build upon each other i.e. how does the move away from the early scholars lead to the concerns of B&R, then how do those concerns lead to the half-truths we buy into according to M,S,B? How do we see the Powell Memo fit into this? How does it compare to the Mallot article discussed by Marens? What social outcomes do we see across these time periods? Do Marens, B&R, and MSB help us to understand why we see the outcomes in week one? If so, how?
