I selected the Behavior Assessment System for Children (BASC) tool because it is a comprehensive set of rating scales and forms, BASC-3 helps you understand the behaviors and emotions of children and adolescents. According to Dr. Reynolds, explains the best practices for using behavior rating scales successfully to support our students as we reengage. These include focusing on the individual needs of each student including the purpose or the questions about each child the psychologist or diagnostician is considering and using multiple methods and forms to collect information about the student to ensure that the interpretation of results is specific to each student.

This assessment tool is helpful for use with children because it allows the child to get the help need by differentiate between hyperactivity and attention problems and Identify behavior problems as required by IDEA, and for developing FBAs, BIPs, and IEPs.

Some of the challenges or limitations associated with the BASC assessment tool include the fact that it is time consuming, expensive, and requires expertise to properly interpret the results.
