Andy and Suzi are friends who went shopping at a new general goods store called Sunny Days. Andy saw a large beer fridge which he just loved, and as it was in the sale with 50% off, he decided to buy it. The fridge did have a scratch on the front as it was an ex-display model; although this was brought to Andy's attention, no other defects were mentioned. The salesperson who sold it to him told him that he could not return it under any circumstances since it was in the sale. Suzi decided to buy a new bean to cup coffee machine at the cost of 500. This was a bit more than she could afford to pay in cash, so she decided to take the shop's credit option. After all, it was interest-free credit, so she would still be paying exactly the same price over a period of one year. The salesperson told her the credit was financed through I pay, and all she was required to do was sign the forms. Since Andy's and Suzi's purchases are all in stock, delivery was organised two days later. When Andy's beer fridge was delivered, it would not switch on since it was in the sale, and he had been told he could not return it; he feels lost and very frustrated. Suzi's coffee machine was perfect until she went out the following day, and it caught fire, badly damaging her kitchen. She has constantly been phoning the retailer but with no success as they keep denying all responsibility.
