Annie takes her expensive coat to Simon's Dry Cleaning. She is handed a ticket, the face of which contains a number, her name, a description of the coat and an annotation to the effect that the coat will be available for collection the following Friday. Section 2(4) of the Consumer Protection Act 1999 reads:

The application of this Act shall be supplemental in nature and without prejudice to any other law regulating contractual relations.

Section 24B of the Consumer Protection Act 1999 reads:

Without prejudice to the provisions in the Contracts ACT 1950, the Specific Relief Act 1950and the Sale of Goods Act 1957 and the provisions of any other law for the time being in force, the provisions of this part shall apply to all contracts.
