The similarity I noticed between the UNDHR and the Philippines Department of Health list is that they establish women's rights. The Deptepatment of Health Philippines state under the right to life that "Among other things, no women's life should be put at risk...". Basically, a woman has the right to do what they want with their body. The UNDHR speaks for the general public and not just particularly women but the context is the same. Everyone is entitled to all rights and freedom. As for the Justice and Fairness ethical framework, " standard of rightness, fairness often has been used with regard to an ability to judge without reference to one's feelings or interests; fairness has also been used to refer to the ability to make judgments that are not overly general but that are concrete and specific to a particular case. In any case, a notion of being treated as one deserves is crucial to both justice and fairness" (Velasquez, 2021). This ethical framework gives equal dignity to each individual and that if anything, our treatment towards someone is justified. I am ambivalent about the debate of reproductive health in the Philippines. Yes, the laws state some elements which you think are good, but these resources are almost inaccessible. According to the article Reproductive Health Law in the Philippines, it states "Contraceptive use remained disturbingly low among poor couples because they lacked information and access" (Cabral, 2021). Due to the lack of contraceptives women faced health implications causing the maternal mortality rate to increase even further. In the reproductive health law, women are prohibited from having abortions so they are at risk of having illnesses or having premature deaths if the fetus in them isn't properly space. Women have to just go through the pregnancy process even when they're not up to par. However, I also read that religious freedom is respected in the Reproductive Health law, so based on a person's religious beliefs they may receive the medical attention they need (Cabral, 2021).
