Answer questions 1 & 2.
WINTER TOURISM ATTRACTIONS IN CHINA
There are currently approximately 100 ski resorts of different types in
China with most of these located in the north of the country, in regions
including Heilongjiang, Jilin and Xinjiang. There are also some in the south,
for example, in Sichuan and Yunnan. Indoor Skiing can also be found in
large cities such as at the indoor ski park in Shenzhen.
Winter tourism has become increasingly popular in China and it was
expected that by 2005,7 million participants would get involved in it
while revenue would increase to US $241 million. The market is forecast
to expand rapidly aided by increased investment, active support from
governments at various levels, promotion campaigns such as that car-
ried out by Heilongjiang province in Beijing. The management of winter
tourism has been improved by regulations such as the first Chinese skiing
ground quality standards issued by the Heilongjiang government in 2002.
The WTTC (2006) considered that regional collaboration and cooperation
in winter tourism should strengthen and that diversity was likely and
would extend to snow-, water- and grass-skiing and ice sculpture.
