This was a small prob- lem until 1973, when the gas crunch hit, and fuel prices went from 25" a gallon to over a dollar. Orders for new Titans decreased dramatically, and car production at the Cambridge plant fizzled. The leaders at Titan toyed with entering a joint agree- ment with Toyota to make a fuel-efficient smaller cab, but the leaders had known success for too many years with their larger product.
