A customer satisfaction analyst, hired by a local town, is studying the service time of callers to receive emergency service (from the time a call is received until a unit, e.g., an ambulance, reaches to the caller's location). Suppose this wait time, in minutes, have a normal distribution for which mean is unknown and standard deviation is known to be 2.43 minutes. The local mayor is interested to study if this wait time is longer than 5.5 minutes, so the analyst stated the null and alternative hypothesis as follows: Ho: H S 5.5 Hj: u > 5.5 Suppose analyst observed 33 randomly selected callers to the emergency system and measured the service time as outlined above and found out X = 5.57 minutes. Based on these measurements, carry out a test at significance level of alpha=5% for above hypothesis by: a) State degree of freedom and calculate test statistic. (5 points) b) Obtain the critical value and perform the test. State your conclusion on rejecting or not rejecting the Null hypothesis and interpret it. (5 points)
