Any organizational change process should either increase key outputs (such as revenue), reduce the resources needed to produce the outputs (such as various types of business costs), or address an essential requirement set by an external stakeholder (such as government regulations).

There are three primary ways to positively impact organizational performance:

Increase top-line revenues or other key outputs: The organization can increase the key outputs that are most relevant for its performance.

Increase bottom-line profits: The organization can also increase efficiency by decreasing the costs needed to create the desired output.

Stay in business: In many cases, organizations can no longer survive without IT solutionsthe systems have become a necessity. As Bill Gates once famously said, If your business is not on the internet, then your business will be out of business. Thus the third key way of supporting organizational performance is to ensure that existing systems can operate effectively without interruption.
