AP 5-3 (CCA Calculations over Five Years) Golden Dragon Lid. began carrying on business in Vancouver on September 1, 2018. The busi- ness includes an elegant sit-down restaurant specializing in northern Chinese cuisine, as well as a take-out service that provides home delivery throughout the city. To facilitate this latter opera- tion, on October 12, 2018, the company acquires 20 small automobiles to be used as delivery vehicles. The cost of these automobiles was $12,000 each and, for purposes of calculating CCA, they were categorized as class 10. During the first year of operations, the company established a calendar-based taxation year ending on December 31. For the 2019 through 2023 taxation years, the following transactions took place with respect to the company's fleet of delivery automobiles: 2019 In June, the company acquired five more automobiles at a cost of $12,500 each. In addition, three of the older automobiles were sold for total proceeds of $27,500. 2020 There were no new purchases of automobiles during this year. However, four of the older automobiles were sold for total proceeds of $38,000. 2021 In December 2021, 13 of the original automobiles and 3 of the newer automobiles were sold for $128,000. It was the intent of the company to replace these automobiles. However, because of a delay in delivery by the automobile dealer, the replacement did not occur until January 2022. 2022 In January 2022, the company took possession of 25 new delivery automobiles at a cost of $16,000 each. No automobiles were disposed of in 2022
