There are approximately 350 employees working in two shifts 8 AM to 4PM and 3 PM to 11 PM. The work environment is flexible primarily because the project requirescollaboration among team members. Because of security issues and the remote location of the facility,Apex provides a cafeteria which operates 11 AM to 6 PM. The cafeteria also provides a place where teammembers can exchange ideas and engage in discussions. The facility director has come to you for asolution to what he perceives as a problem. The researcher in charge of the second shift shared with theDirector a request from about 20 employees, all US citizens. Some are Naturalized Citizens from theMiddle East and Pakistan, but the majority are US born. The employees are Muslim. Ramadan runs fromMarch 12,2024, to April 11,2024. In keeping with their religion, they have requested that they beallowed to share a communal meal (Iftar) after sundown each day of Ramadan to break the sunup tosundown fast. They have volunteered to prepare the meal that they would share. The Second Shiftsupervisor is quite upset with the request. He cites several concerns. 1. The interruption to the shiftsworkflow.2. The use of company equipment by non-authorized employees (cafeteria).3. The impact onother employees because of strange foods.4. The strain that this might cause other employeesbecause of the appearance of clique forming in the shift. 5.
