  • America was never Great." Why would someone say this? What do you think?

When someone says "America was never great" because they believe that the United States has never fully lived up to its ideals of equality and justice for all people living in it, particularly discrimination against marginalized communities. For example, one might argue that the history of the country is marked by systemic racism, sexism, and other forms of oppression that still exist today. Moreover, the US has participated in acts of exploitation both at home and abroad. It In short, they might be expressing frustration with the current political and economic systems, which they believe perpetuate inequality and disadvantage for some groups.

I think that the belief "America was never great" can be supported by several factors. Firstly, the US has a history of systemic oppression against African Americans, Native Americans, women, and other minorities groups in the US. The things they have faced has left a lasting impact on them and continues to shape their experiences today. Moreover, economic inequality is still a significant issue in the US, with a large percentage of the population living in poverty or struggling to make ends meet and the richer getting richer. Secondly, the political system is not functioning as it should be in my view as there has been very little progress on matters of much greater importance, such as climate change, gun control, and healthcare reform. Which is causing people to lose trust in the system. Thirdly, the US has been involved in numerous wars and conflicts around the world, often with disastrous consequences for both the US and the countries involved war on Iraq and even the Afghanistan war which has caused US to lose so many lives and Dollars that could have been used for the betterment of Americans. This can lead to criticism of US foreign policy and a sense that the country has not always acted in the best interests of the world. The difficulties described above have improved, but the rate of changeis too slow, and more could have been done if these issues were addressed as they should have been This is my view on the poster statement "America was never great."

The author comes across the statement "America was never great. "in the neighborhood of Cleveland during his visit. It was a poster for the Revolutionary Communist Party.

  • Addiction is often a rejection of what?

According to the passage, addiction is often a rejection of the feeling of being excluded, or of being different. It can stem from childhood trauma or some other larger social forces such as racism. For individuals who have experienced childhood trauma, addiction may be a desperate reaction to the rejection and lack of trust they feel after being abused by those who were supposed to care for them (their own family). Feeling disassociated or dissociation can also lead to drug use as a solution to cope with the rejection one feels. Similarly, minorities who grow up in stigmatized communities with fewer opportunities, resources, being forced to live in certain neighbourhood where there are fewer schools, having less money in-short less of everythingmay also make one feel excluded and isolated, and can contribute to their addiction. Therefore, addiction may be a way for these people to escape or numb the pain of rejection and exclusion
