Art has been working for Comfort Manufacturing for five years. Recently, his supervisor requested to be his friend on Facebook. Art was hesitant since he has many personal photos and posts, which would reveal his religion as a Seventh-Day Adventist. As part of his religious beliefs and practices, he does not perform work on the Sabbath (i.e. from sundown on Friday to sundown on Saturday). Shortly after he accepted the friend request, management instituted a policy requiring all employees to work on Saturdays, regardless of their religious beliefs.

Do you feel that an employer has a justified reason for asking for access to an employee's social media accounts? Why or why not? Art complained to the general manager and threatened to file a claim with the EEOC. What would you suggest the general manager do to address Art's concerns and prevent him from filing a claim with the EEOC?
