Article 2: Narcissistic Leaders The Incredible Pros, the Inevitable Cons by Michael Maccoby

1. Read the article, "Why are Americans less trusting?" Discuss several (at least two) findings from the survey and give your reasons why people either trust or don't trust people in these positions. Using what you read, discuss ways that you can be seen as more trustworthy in your future career.

2. Read the article on "Narcissistic Leaders: Pros and Cons." As the author asserts, do you think some positive aspects of Narcissism can be a positive trait for business leaders? Discuss this. As a counterpoint, have you known someone who is Narcissistic? (I would be really surprised if someone said no.) Discuss how this person negatively impacted yourself and others?

3. Impression management is a difficult topic to talk about - as a teacher, I am hesitant to 'push' the topic if students see impression management as merely conveying untrue information. In truth, managing your image is about conveying the 'true' you that you want others to see.
