As a guide for Software Engineers in the face of such issues, the ACM/IEEE organizations a detailed Code of Ethics which consists of 8 major principles:1. PRODUCT: Software engineers shall ensure that their products and related modifications meet the highest professional standards possible.4. JUDGMENT: Software engineers shall maintain integrity and independence in their professional judgment.5. MANAGEMENT: Software engineering managers and leaders shall subscribe to and promote an ethical approach to the management of software development and maintenance.6. PROFESSION: Software engineers shall advance the integrity and reputation of the profession consistent with the public interest.7. COLLEAGUES: Software engineers shall be fair to and supportive of their colleagues.8. SELF: Software engineers shall participate in lifelong learning regarding the practice of their profession and shall promote an ethical approach to the practice of the profession In the context of the following cases, identify which principles of ACMs Code of Ethics may have been breached? and why?a) Theranos was a famous health technology company founded in 2003. The company was claiming its blood-testing technology was a breakthrough that will result in reducing the amount of blood needed for lab tests and in far less costs. The technology was hyped until a turning point occurred in 2015 when a reporter started questioning the dependability of the results generated by the Theranos technology. The reporter stated that the companys device (Edison) might be providing inaccurate results. Furthermore, the reporter stated that Theranos was using traditional blood testing machines as opposed to what it was claiming. Subsequently, the company faced many legal issues from several medical authorities in the U.S. In 2018, the company officially stopped operating. b) Therac-25 was a radiation therapy machine that was involved in several accidents where patients were given overdoses. After investigation, it turned out that the software was not reviewed properly, the system did not provide appropriate feedback to the user when there was something wrong, and the company did not test the machine after integrating hardware and software until it was assembled at the hospital. One of the contributing reasons to this crisis was because the operators of the machine did not believe the complaints at the beginning which was likely because of their overconfidence. c) A computer company is working on a flight reservation system for an airline company. The system is supposed to be used by different departments, to control all the details of the reservation process. A quality assurance software engineer is concerned that some of the functions of the system are not tested sufficiently. The software engineer reports to the managers but they try to push the engineer into signing the systems compliance with standards by stating that the company is at the risk of closing its door. Being pressured by the managers, the engineer signs the document. d) A company signs with a series of candy shops to automate their daily processes. The software development company forecasts a delivery date that cannot be met unless the staff works 24/7, or the development process is sped up by setting short the requirements definition phase. e) A development company is working on a Learning Management System for a university. The company rushes over the development phase to meet the deadline resulting in a poorly written code with no documentation. The product is delivered to the customer but with a low quality that does not satisfy the customer. f) Facebook was confounded by multiple people including Mark Zuckerberg, and Edwardo Saverin. Saverin was responsible for running Facebook's business part while Zuckerberg was working on the product. However, Savarin was feeling left out and froze Facebooks bank account. Zuckerberg decided to restrict Saverins decisions in the company by reducing his shares.
