As a Police officer Compare your Note statement and witnessed statement in this Scenario

Conduct how did you do your breathalyzer to Jefferson what steps should you do

Scenario:

On Saturday, January 13, 2024, at approximately 23 :45 pm, I responded to a report of a stabbing at Madison Avenue Pub, Toronto Ontario M5R 2S1. Upon arrival, I found a chaotic scene with bar patrons visibly distressed. We instantly saw a male person lying on the ground with a clear stab wound. According to the initial report, this is the victim of the stabbing incident. Emergency medical professionals were already on the site, caring for the casualty.

While securing the area, at 00:15 am I noticed someone who matched the suspect ID description provided by the dispatcher: a male, around 5'11", of Indian origin, dressed in a gray sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and sporting a black beard. He appeared anxious, and he held a knife in his hand.

I quickly pulled my service weapon and verbally instructed the subject, later identified as Akashdeep Bhatti, to drop the knife. Akashdeep agreed after a moment of hesitation and lowered the weapon to the ground. 23:40 pm Akashdeep Bhatti was disarmed and was subsequently detained he the right to free advice from a legal aid lawyer. Following regular protocol, I told to Akashdeep Bhatti put his hands behind his back and kneel own the ground, which he did without incident. I then handcuffed Akashdeep Bhatti, informed him of the right to retain and instruct counsel without delay. and placed him in the back of the patrol cruiser to be transported to the station.

After securing the suspect, I returned to Madison Avenue Pub at 23:50 pm to speak with the bartender and other witnesses. The bartender gave a comprehensive account of what happened before the argument and stabbing. According to the bartender, the incident progressed from a verbal quarrel to physical assault when the suspect, who had been drinking since around 19:30 PM, attacked the victim over a disagreement about cutting in line at the bar.

After taking initial witness statements and safeguarding the area, we evacuated the premises. Approximately 20 customers were present at the time of evacuation, with 10 people sitting at the bar, including the suspect, prior to the incident. I Contacted the forensics unit at 00:00 am to request DNA collection, fingerprint analysis, and video evidence retrieval from the crime scene at Madison Avenue Pub. A Forensics team arrived at 00:40 am and began collecting evidence, including the knife that was in the crime scene for DNA analysis, fingerprints of the Suspect and securing video footage from the pub's surveillance system.

The Victim was taken to Toronto General Hospital At 200 Elizabeth St, Toronto, ON M5G 2C4 for medical treatment. Once the situation at the bar was under control and the scene was secured for evidence collection, I went to Toronto General Hospital to obtain a statement from the victim Jefferson Furtado who was receiving medical attention for injuries sustained during the brawl. Arrived at the Toronto General Hospital at 2:00 AM. I conducted a breathalyzer in Jefferson, to view what his alcohol level was at, it came out to a 0.03, which indicated the victim has a slight "buzz," less inhibited, and alert.

WITNESS STATEMENT On Saturday, January 13, 2024, my shift started at 7 pm.

I was working with Bob John, who was in his section of the bar, he is also a bartender.

I was in section A and Bob John was in section B. At 7:30 pm my regular Akashdeep Bhatti came inand wanted to start drinking.

I started a tab because Akasheep said he would like to start one. Akashdeep said "Start my fucken tab". He is a regular so I didn't mind doing so knowing he will pay his bill. He was wearing a white hoodie and grey jeans. He is roughly 6'3 and has a beard. His tone was very hostile and passive agressive, his facial expression was cold. Everythig seemed okay until a Middle Eastern couple came in.

Around 10:00 pm a couple came in to the pub, in my section, one male and one female came in and sat in my section of the pub. The male was wearing a black long sleeve, black jogging pants and blue shoes. The girl had dark brown hair and was wearing a pink jacket and black jeans. I noticed the suspect eyeing th couple for a good amount of time but didn't think much of it. The group of people at the table that the suspect was eyeing were male and female, with darker skin tone, possibly middle eastern. The suspect was at the counter the entire night. At 11 pm it got a bit busier. Busier for the bar is 20 people. In my section that is 10 people.

A male from the table where Akashdeep was eyeing, came up to pay his tab but in doing so he cut in front ofAkashdeep. I was just finishing making a drink for theAkashdeep when I then noticed Akashdeep getting very aggressive with the other man who was trying to come pay his bill. The second I noticed the altercation I called the police and made sure to keep an eye on the situation when doing so. It escalated quickly. Akashdeep had shoved the other male, then grabbed his chain. The male was screaming for Akashdeep to stop, but Akashdeep didn't. I finished on the phone and quickly told them to 'calm down', but it was to late as Akashdeep pulled out a knife from his sweater pocket and stabbed the other male in the arm. Both men were on the floor, the victim had feel on the floor as well and the Akashdeep was slowly getting up. Everyone stepped back but when doing so the police arrived at 11:45 PM. I watched the officer tell Akashdeep to lower the weapon and on the second request to put down the weapon he did, she said to put his hand behind his back and he did, she then put handcuffs on him. She then cautioned him with his rights to counsel and then layed the charges. He was taken outside from there. Officer Paula told everyone NOT to move as it can contaminate the scene. She then closed of the area with caution tape and evacuated us. We needed to stay outside as the scene was still being investigated. I was brought to the station for questioning around 1:00AM and released from the station at 3:40 AM. I went home from there. I did not return to work until the day after so January 15, 2024.
