As a probation office community liaison to the city and having to provide guidance for what programs that would work for youth from having repeat offenses, it is important to know the community and having a good grasp on what programs have been used in the past and what is being used presently and looking at the overall success rates of those programs, evaluate what worked and what didn't work and try to take the positives and add them to a new program so that there will be more opportunity for success. I would want to have a program that would be available to all youths and a program that would have a solid mentorship program for all youth ages. Have mentors that have had success in changing their own lives, so that they can show the youths that you can become a productive member of society and that there is hope. It more likely that these youths live in an environment that they see a lot crime and they see those older than them doing things to survive and they see that as the norm, so they have to do the same thing.
