As a result of the unfolding Covid-19 pandemic, physical contacts are discouraged, hence, businesses are now leveraging on the information technology typically the cyber space to reach their customers. Firms which were unable to fast follow the first movers' technology adopters however, are finding it difficult to reach their employees and clients due to the absence of an effective information resource management system. SMT Ghana limited, a chartered management and accounting firm is faced with the challenge of data duplication and redundancy hence, unable to effectively harmonize data of its employees and clients across the country. The firm has contracted Egala and Egala Inc. a private IT firm to develop a data management system to enhance management's decision making. Based on what you learnt in class on the affordances and constraints of DBMS, provide answers to the following. i. Discuss all the components in a data hierarchy in the right order. 12 marks ii. Briefly explain the significance of entities and attributes in a DBMS. 6 marks iii. State and describe three problems of the traditional file environment. Give an instance of a problem in each case. 6 marks iv. For each in (iii), explain how DBMS solves them by providing examples.
