As a team, you will be graded on your creativity and ability to apply the steps in the PMO lifecycle to produce a proposal for organizations to improve their existing PMO or justify the creation of a new PMO for those organizations that do not have a PMO. A rubric for each part of your term project is provided in the unit corresponding to the term project.
PMO Topics:
Setup a New PMO (Unit 5 and 6)
- Topic 6: New PMO in Construction
Energize an existing PMO (Units 10, 11,& 12)
- Topic 6: Existing PMO in Construction
You will use the same organizations/industry type to establish a New PMO, then you will assess the same PMO using Capability Maturity Model ( CMM) to show issues that will warrant the changes in the PMO.
Part 1: Report on New PMOInstructions
The following will help you answer the business case:
- What type of authority will this PMO have?
- What will the PMO type be (Basic? Functional? Enterprise?) Some combination of these?
- How will you position the PMO to be scalable if the organization chooses to grow the PMO later?
- What functions will the PMO deliver, and not deliver? Who will perform the QRM function?
- What is your proposed plan for carrying out the following steps to create a PMO?
- What are the barriers to success?
- Provide an organizational chart for how the PMO will report into the organizational hierarchy.
- Select appropriate metrics to measure the performance of the PMO.

- The team lead of the group needs to upload the business case document to Moodle per the deadline set.
- Submit your assignment as Microsoft Word format. Maximum 12 pages including cover and references. File name must include the group number and the assignment number. (term project 1-Team x.doc)
- Include a cover page with a professional appearance. Consistent fonts and spacing throughout the document. No JPG insertion of any kind, all tables and charts must be editable and clearly visible.
