As counselors in training, it is important to learn how to ethically respond to transgenerational trauma during sessions. This assignment will provide you with an opportunity to create a genogram based on a case study that includes multiple layers of compound trauma.

From the following case-study, complete a genogram. Include biological, step-family members, legal guardians, and others you deem important. Describe the effects of generational trauma and pattern breaking in a short response. Be sure to attach a copy of your completed Genogram.Include at least one scholarly source to support your response. Cite any scholarly references accordingly using in-text citations and a reference list.

John Doe is a 16-year-old high school junior of Native American (choose a local indigenous group to your area) and Hispanic. He lives with his biological mother, stepfather, and three siblings (a full-blooded brother, a stepsister, and a half-brother). His biological father lives several hours away with his new wife, John's half-sister, and a stepbrother. John's parents divorced when his was four due to domestic violence. There is a long-standing restraining order on John's father from his mother. John is the oldest of all of his siblings.

John's maternal grandmother is of indigenous descent and was married to John's maternal grandfather (Irish American descent) for nearly 50 years before she passed from cancer. She was very important to John, and his mourning is ongoing. His maternal grandfather is still alive, and John frequently visits.

John's paternal grandfather (Hispanic descent) was married to John's paternal grandmother (also of Hispanic descent) for 7 years before they divorced due to domestic violence. While she never remarried and remained close to both John and John's family of origin, he remarried several times (three that John's father can remember) and has been in and out of John's father's and John's life.

John is currently in his first romantic relationship with a same-aged female peer.

Identify behaviors related to transgenerational trauma that John should address moving forward in his relationship with his romantic partner?
