As part of the current state mapping activities, Imran created a schedule and pre-

sented it to the functional management team. The schedule included the time com-

mitments needed by both the SMEs and functional managers. Imran estimated that

current state mapping would take three cycles: draft, review, finalize.

Although Imran's SMEs and functional managers were matrixed, providing the

weeks their time was needed and breaking sessions across three meetings made

the commitment easier for the business to provide. In addition, Imran knew he had

dedicated project analysts for the project and looked at the current state mapping

sessions as an opportunity to skill up his team.

Imran's approach enabled him to create current state mapping sprints for his proj-

ect team and provided transparency to business stakeholders in manageable time

increments, which resulted in business commitment. Once commitment was secured,

Imran had the sessions scheduled to secure space and SME/functional manager time

with enough contingency to move sessions if needed
