As science has progressed studies have linked alcohol consumption to various form of cancers and ailments similar to smoking. Banning alcohol advertisements like what was done with tobacco should be done, but there will be most likely little to no impact on consumpution. There are plenty of commercials in place of tobacco ads that promote tobacco dangers but yet nearly every high school in America has a vaping problem which can be attributed to indriect advertisement through influencers using social media which may still not be permitted on the platfoms, but they do nothing to stop it. Overall banning alcohol ads will have little to no effect on consumption as seen with tobacco. It is also important to note that smoking and drinking alcohol in movies and other forms of entertainment also act as indirect advertising that causes some adults and adolescent to mimic the behavior as a way of life and can lead to addiction. Banning the ads would be a step in the right direction but ceratinly not a concrete fix to alcohol abuse. A proposal of the idea would certainly see push back from alcohol producers that lobby our government similar to the tobacco industry allowing them to continue contributing to health issues and shorter life spans.
