As was the case with torts and contracts, you are probably aware from the readings that another area of law governed by state law is that of permitted forms of doing business within the state. Once more, using the Web search strategy employed in previous modules, i.e., the "state.??.us" approach:

1. Select the State of Texas
2. Determine whether that state permits the following forms of doing business, and, if so, the citation(s) therefore: Limited Liability Company (and, if so, how long the state will permit it to run) and/or Limited Liability Partnership. (Note: Lest there be any confusion, this does NOT mean that you can select either one if the state has both forms of doing business. Instead, it means that if the state you select has both forms, then you are to provide the requested information for each form. However, as all states may not have both forms of doing business, then you need only provide information for the form of doing business the selected state does permit, i.e., either the Limited Liability Company or the Limited Liability Partnership.)
