Ashley met Donald on a dating app in May. Their relationship progressed and within three months Ashley was spending two to three nights a week at Donald's house. Donald wanted Ashley to feel at home, so he stocked his refrigerator with her favorite foods and beverages. He even shared the combination to his front keyless door lock with Ashley so she could come and go as she pleased.

Unfortunately, Donald soon found fault with many things Ashley did and said.By the time Thanksgiving rolled around he tried to see less of Ashley. However, since she was high strung and prone to make ugly scenes, Donald put off telling her he wanted to end their relationship.

As New Year's Eve neared, Ashley continuously asked Donald how he anticipated they would spend the holiday. Donald told Ashley he was in the midst of a big work project with a strict deadline and could not take off any time to celebrate. In reality, Donald was planning a big New Year's Eve bash at his home where he hoped to meet someone new.

On New Year's Eve, Donald prepared his home for the party, and soon his guests started to arrive. Ashley, who knew nothing of this, became suspicious when she called Donald's office to check on him and no one answered. She therefore drove to Donald's house, parked her car on the curb in front of his home and walked up to the front door. Knowing the combination, Ashley unlocked the door and entered. To her amazement, she saw a party going on.Ashely scanned the room and immediately spotted Donald in the corner talking to a young attractive woman named Janet.

Ashley marched over to Donald and Janet and began yelling at them. Janet, who had no idea who Ashley was, became visibly shaken. Ashley, however, continued waving her hands in front of Janet's face, shouting that Janet had better leave her man alone, "or else."Donald asked Ashley to leave, but she refused. Donald then took Ashley by the arm, and with a firm grip escorted her out the door and into a waiting Uber that he had called while Ashley was confronting Janet.

The next morning, Donald changed the combination to his front door lock. He then called a local towing company and paid to have Ashley's car towed to a nearby parking garage. Donald also paid the garage fee to have the car parked on its premises for thirty days. Donald then put the stub from the parking garage in an envelope and mailed it to Ashley.
