Assessment Description This group assessment aims to assess students' ability to utilise venture capital principles in raising start-up finance. The students will critically assess two funding strategies for a new venture and provide recommendations arising from a comprehensive analysis. Assessment Instructions it Synopsis: Presume that your team has recently founded a Tech start-up. To raise funding for the ung start-up you have two options at hand: 1) Venture Capital Fund, 2) Angel Investment. As the startup founders, your team is required to create a 10- minute presentation on the pros and cons of each funding option from an entrepreneur's point of view and then decide which one your team would opt for. (NOTE: there is no requirement that you must opt for either of the options). Give justification as to why you are /are not interested in going for the funding. Some of the aspects to take into consideration are, but not limited to: The amount of funding required (you must present the cost and the period of the funding). . The percentage return on profits or sales you will provide to the VC or Angel investor. Advantages and limitations of VC funding versus Angel investing. Scalability of the start-up. Founder's own equity (calculated in dollars and in the percentage of total funding required). Other factors to consider before choosing a funding option. Success Probability (you can present best and worst-case scenarios). At the start of the week 7 class, you will be given in-class time to form groups of three to four members (no more). Once you have created a group, you need to get acquainted with the rest of the members and select the group leader responsible for submitting the presentation slides via MyKBS.
