Assessment Description

In thistwo-part assignment, you will conceptualize a family portrayed in a movie of your choosing through the lens of the structural family theory.

Part One: Watch a movie that portrays a family unit showing structural dynamics to assess the characters in the movie. Focus on three of the following dynamics in addition to diversity and spirituality:

• Role of the symptom in the family
• Subsystems
• Cross-generational coalitions
• Boundaries
• Hierarchy
• Complementarity
• Family development
• Strengths

Part Two: five-to-seven-slide PowerPoint presentation summarizing your findings in Part One. Title slide and reference slide are not included in the slide count. Include speaker notes below each content-related slide that represent what would be said if giving the presentation in person. Expand upon the information included in the slide and do not simply restate it.

• Provide the name of the movie. Summarize the main characters and plot within the movie. Use a great number of words in the speaker notes and citations. (one to two slides)

• Provide a great amount of wording description of your three chosen main assessment concepts within Minuchin's structural family counseling theory. Include citations for each main assessment. • Include two to three scholarly references and an aesthetically pleasing design, layout, and pictures within each slide.Pictures do not need to be included in the title or reference slides.
