To do this effectively they must be able to: implement service health, safety and hygiene procedures meet the health and safety needs of individual children and groups of children support children to learn about and engage in practices associated with: personal hygiene healthy eating regular physical activity toileting, dressing and undressing hazard identification and personal protective behaviours identify when children are injured or unwell and respond appropriately meet children's need for rest and sleep check that the environment and resources are safe and hygienic and contribute to maintaining them accordingly provide active supervision and adjust supervision levels as needed When supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of children in their care, educators must adhere to: the responsibilities of their role service policies and procedures federal and state/territory legislative and regulatory requirements, including those associated with the NQF, health and safety and reporting Australian guidelines and recommendations, including those associated with: healthy eating sleep and rest sleep safety sun safety Educators must ensure they: use strategies that are developmentally-appropriate when teaching and supporting children accommodate the needs and preferences of children and families wherever possible adhere to confidentiality and privacy requirements when managing information respect children's need for privacy You are an educator in a centre-based early childhood education and care service. Write a report that describes how you will plan to meet the health, safety and wellbeing needs of the children in your care in accordance with the above criteria. You should include reference to your own workplace responsibilities, how you will collaborate with your colleagues and children's families and how you will adhere to the service's policies and procedures.
