ASSESSMENT QUESTIONS Scenario 1 Jack has run a plumbing business for the past 10 years. Four months ago, he contracted with Tammy to do an apprenticeship with his business for two years. Tammy's father was a plumber before he died, so she had learned over the years about plumbing systems, and was admired by her father's plumbing mates, including Jack, for her excellent knowledge despite being so young. Jack, aware of the value that Tammy would add to his business, told Tammy that if she stuck with his business for the two years, he would make Tammy his partner after one year and eventually pass the business onto her when he retired. Tammy had always liked Jack, so she decides to keep working with him, despite being offered other opportunities with more pay. 18 months later, Jack decides to retire. Shortly before his retirement, Jack is approached by the manager of Earth Investments (El), about the possibility of acquiring Jack's plumbing business. Jack decides that the timing is perfect for him to cash out on all his hard work in building his business, so he signs a contract with El for the sale of his business.
