The purpose of this essay is to research and demonstrate your understanding of event impacts by applying them to a real-life event. Students are required to pick a real-life event that excites you. Week 2's lecture and relevant textbook readings will help with this assignment. Strongly encourage you to be a little creative in your essay presentation (e.g., use figures, images, and/or tables to demonstrate the event impacts and visually express them in your essay). ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS For this assignment, you are required to research and prepare an essay on impacts associated with a real-life event. The purpose of the essay is to demonstrate an understanding of event impacts and how consideration of event impacts in event management is essential to the event's success. Your essay (1,500 words:10% -/+ is acceptable) must be written in an essay style and you should use appropriate headings/sub-headings (see: https://courses.ecu.edu.au/courses/18091/pages/assignments-essays) and incorporate the following components: Title page including essay topic, Unit number and Unit name, your name and your ID number, lecturer name, submission date, and total word count (not included in the word limit); 1. Why is an event impact analysis/assessment important? (e.g., why event managers care about the event impacts). Be sure to use academic sources to inform your answer and support your argument and reasons. (In this part use some academic references); 2. Discuss the major impacts that your chosen event (i.e., a real-life event that excites you) has on its stakeholders (e.g., negative and positive impacts of your chosen event associated with culture, economic, tourism, politics, society, and environment). Be critical, not just descriptive. (In this part use some academic and industry references); 3. Examine the risks of not conducting an event impact analysis/assessment (in other words, what are the risks if event managers do not consider the event impacts?) and discuss the role of the event managers to prevent these risks and balance the event impacts (in other words, what can event managers do to maximise positive impacts and minimise potential negative impacts in events?) (in this part use some academic and industry references); 4. Reference list- with a minimum of 4 academic references (i.e., scholarly, peer-reviewed information targeting an academic audience) and 4 industry references (i.e., non-scholarly resources, published by e.g. companies / industry bodies, targeting a professional audience). Industry references could be sources such as reports, company documents, and websites. APA 7th referencing style is required. Your textbooks could be one of academic
