(Please find a recommended Transition Plan Template for BECE students in the Unit Cloud Assessment section) The Transition to School Plan will include a list and brief description of the main activities that an early childhood teacher would carry out with children/students and their families to prepare and support them making the transition to school. E334 Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary Education Students In this assignment you are to take on the role of early childhood (preschool) teacher and Grade Prep/Foundation teacher and devise a Transition to School Plan for 4-6 year old children for one year, including Terms 2, 3 & 4 for preschool and Term 1 for Grade Prep/Foundation. All students In this assignment, you are to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of a wide range of transition strategies for differentiating teaching to meet students with diverse backgrounds and abilities. For example, considering how best to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, those at risk of experiencing vulnerability and disadvantage, students with disabilities and gifted students. This assignment requires you to show a broad knowledge and understanding of ECEC and primary education legislative and policy requirements related to transition to ECEC and transition to school and appropriate teaching strategies that are inclusive and support all childrens participation. The Transition to School Plan will include a list and brief description of the main activities that an Early childhood teacher (or Grade Prep/Foundation teacher for BEd EY students) would carry out with children/students and their families to prepare and support them making the transition to school. The importance of providing timely and accurate information to all transition to school stakeholders, including parents should be considered. 1Part A: Rationale for Transition to School Plan (1000 words +10% maximum) In the rationale section of this assignment, you will need to explain the reasons for including certain activities in your Transition to School Plan. Focus on 1 main area E.g. respect for diversity, inclusive practices in transition, continuity of learning, forming partnerships in transition. Explain your timeline, develop a hypothetical (made-up) context, include resources that you might use, along with drawing from relevant scholarly literature to support your main points. The minimum references required for this assignment are 8 references including 6 scholarly publications (peer-reviewed journal articles or book chapters focusing on research) and at least 2 government reports/policy documents (e.g. Transition: A positive Start to School Resource Kit (DET 2017), National Quality Standard (ACECQA 2020). Part B: The Transition to School Plan (Equivalent to 1000 words, no penalty will be applied for the Transition Plan being below or over the word count). Please attach your Transition Plan as an Appendix. The Transition to School Plan will include a list and brief description of the main activities that an Early childhood teacher (or Grade Prep/Foundation teacher for BEd EY students) would carry out with children/students and their families to prepare and support them making the transition to school. Assessment Outline (Please use the following sub-headings). e Introduction (Approx. 200 words)- Introduce the importance of planning for transition in educational settings to show that itis a process and not a one-off event. e Focus Area (please name your area here) (Approx. 600 words)- Please select 1 main area of focus relating to your transition plan. For example: e Continuity e Childrens social and emotional wellbeing e Supporting inclusive practices in transition e Conclusion (Approx. 200 words) - In the conclusion you will briefly reflect on how your transition plan supported the focus area and why is this important in terms of successful transitions. e References- A minimum of 6 scholarly items of literature should be used in the assignment. e Appendix- The Transition to School Plan (using the template provided) 4-page recommended limit or 1 page for each term. Note: If you draw from information from sources other than academic literature (such as from other teachers transition plans, particularly those found on the internet) please declare the source in your 2reference list. It is fine to draw on others ideas for some of the transition plan ideas and activities, but ultimately this is your early years transition plan, and you will need to show how you conceived and developed the ideas yourself. Also, remember to draw from and link your plan to either the EYLF (AGDE 2022) or the VEYLDF (DET 2016) and the Victorian Curriculum: Levels F-2 (VCAA, n.d.).
