Asset Retirement Obligation Case Study

ABC warehouse requires the special handling and disposal of the asbestos in law when the building is demolished or significantly renovated. ABC warehouses do not have a plan to demolish or renovate because they will sell warehouse within the next five years prior to their disposal. Because ABC will never effectively have to settle the obligation to remove the asbestos from the building(s).it does not have an asset retirement obligation that needs to be recognized.
