Assignment 1 Unit Cost Estimating\ Group Assignment (groups of 4 students ONLY. Submission with any other number will not be considered for grading). Please review the submission requirements on D2L before starting.\ All calculation questions in this course please keep 2 decimal digits including durations (unless questions direct you otherwise or if it does not make sense e.g., 1.5 person).\ You are a general contractor for a residential complex. As construction is under the way, you receive a notification from the streel fabricator that there will be a delay in the delivery of the streel rebars from in the concrete columns work package. This delay impacts the completion date of this work package by three days, which is not much by itself, but it will impact the execution and cost of consequent work packages significantly, as some of the related major equipment rentals and subcontractors have already been contracted out and scheduled.\ There are 40 columns in this work package which are 4m high (ceiling to ceiling). The design calls for 3000psi ready mix heavyweight reinforced concrete and rebar grade 60 (see Figure 1 for more design details). You are planning to use a concrete pump to cast concrete in steel formed plywood formwork.\ \ Figure 1. The cross section of the columns\ \ \ Table 1. The three activities occur sequentially; each starting on the next day after its predecessor is completed. Looking at the schedule and activity durations, it becomes evident that there is not much space in the concrete casting and rebar activities to make them shorter, however, there might be an opportunity to make up for this delay during the formwork activity by adding an extra crew. Originally, you had arranged for only one crew for this activity. You can potentially add an extra crew to this activity; however, it comes at an extra cost of 20%.\ The site superintendent is also hired at a daily basis and is paid equivalent to an average foreman rate for typical outside work. Drawing from your experience in previous projects, you include a 5% contingency in your estimates; you consider a 12% profit for this project. You are also hoping to recuperate your office expenses from each project by implementing a 10% rate to each project you get this year. The temporary works and site facilities are rented on a daily basis in this project for the rates indicated in Table 2. The cost of rebar stirrups, all accessories, and concrete finishing and curing are negligible and ignored.\ Table 2. Temporary Works and Site Facilities Rate\ \ Resource Quantity Daily Rate ($)\ Contractor Trailer 1 80\ Lunchroom 1 60\ Storage trailer 2 70\ Waste bin 2 10\ Recycle bin 2 10\ Site Fence 1 10\ Portable Guardhouse 1 25\ Generator 2 50\ Porta Potty 4 30\ \ Questions:\ 1. Unit Cost Estimating:\ Conduct unit cost estimating using resource enumeration for this work package based on the original plan (one crew) and summarize your results in a Unit Cost Estimating table. (Reminder: summary table or any non-unit-based cost estimating calculations will receive no grades, even if the final numbers are correct!)\ All numbers (wages, equipment, material cost, productivity rates, etc.) should be obtained from the RS Means files posted for this assignment. For unit cost data, only the first 7 columns (from line number up to, and including, material price) of the table can be used
