ASSIGNMENT 1: USING EXCEL FOR DECISION SUPPORT Your task is to find incomplete records, duplicate records, and erroneous records in the 2010 data. While reviewing the Word file that came with the Excel file, you learn the following things about the data: When the data clerk entered the engagement dates, he entered only the month and day. Excel entered the year 1900 as a default value for the rest of the date. All dates should be corrected to show 2010 as the year. Engagement ID values should be unique. If there are duplicate Engagement ID values, delete the entire row from the file and log the duplicate values. Only CE, NW, NE, SW, and SE are valid values for the Region column. Delete any other Region values from the file and log them. To search for invalid Region values, first use a pivot table to count the number of engagements in each region. In the PivotTable Fields area, drag the Region field into the Rows cell and then drag the Region field into the Values cell. A count of engagements for each region is created in the pivot table. Invalid Region values will be counted along with valid ones. Highlight and copy the pivot table, then paste it into the log file-select the first cell in the area where you want to paste, click the arrow next to Paste on the Home tab, click Paste Special, and then click Values in the window that appears. You can then delete the pivot table from the 2010 data worksheet. If invalid Region values exist, you can sort the data by the Region field to group the problematic rows together
