Assignment 3: Critique Recently Approved Dissertations

Background

In critiquing a literature review, the types of literature selected, and the quality of the analysis and synthesis are critically appraised during the Chapter 2 approval process. Do a reflection on the content of the literature review for published dissertations

Instructions

The five dissertations listed below were recently approved for students from Northcentral University and National University. Examine the Chapter 2 Literature Review for two of these dissertations and a reflection that incorporates responses to the following questions:

1. Have the author(s) cited only relevant literature? Please explain.
2. Do certain ideas or concepts are over/underemphasized? Please explain.
3. Was there any bias in the language or tone of the writing? Please explain.
4. Were diverse perspectives and populations included? Please explain.
5. Do you think there are any discussions that need elaboration or could be more concise? Please explain.
6. How well does the theoretical framework align with the topic? Please explain.
7. From your perspective, which literature review is more compelling, and which is less compelling? Please explain.
8. What might you have done differently related to the issues you examined in instructions 1-7 above?
9. Of the two dissertations selected, which has the better literature review? Why?
