ASSIGNMENT #3: WHAT TYPE OF LEADER WILL YOU BE IN FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES"

By now you should have read Chapters 1-2 in the textbook, PROFESSIONALISM and completed the Worksheets 1-7. Now, as you move onto Chapters 3 -15 , these are designed to help you as an aspiring leader and professional in our field of Child Development sharpen your personal skills in preparing you for the real world of work. Our guest speaker for an upcoming Weekly Teleconferences will speak to the class about the traits of good leaders and tips on making your marketable in the job market. Her new book, Tips of Aspiring Leaders will give you a glimpse into her childhood story from being a teenage mom to a corporate executive while finding passion in what you do in your job. Below are the tips for your review and for developing questions for our discussion at the end of the Class Teleconference. You will receive a notice of the date of the Teleconference so that you will be prepared.

Instructions:

1. Read the guest speaker's bio and read the Tips for Aspiring Leaders in The File Section of this course in Canvas.

2. Develop a question about professionalism in the workplace and finding your passion in your work.

3. Develop a flyer for parents of children ages 3-6: Leadership Skills to Children.

4. Present your Flyer on Leadership to your group student leader for the week so that it can compiled into a group FCS Leadership Electronic Folder.

6. Create A POWERPOINT (go to: google.com) that tells your story as an Aspiring Leader in Family and Consumer Sciences. Your Vision Board should be bright, colorful, concise, informational and exciting. Tell your story with photos, graphics and other items that reflect your personality.

7. Develop a two page Statement of Purpose about who you, what you stand for, where you come, what your values are and what are you professional and personal aspirations. Imagine that you are being featured on CNN for aspiring leaders across the U.S. and I recommended you. I have to submit a perspectus about you...so write one that tells your story. You may use a slogan, a quote or something profound to enhance your Statement of Purpose and Biography. If you already have a biography, add to it to include your State of Purpose.
