In the third and final stage of the assignment, you will APPLY the principles of learning that you outlined in your plan. You are expected to apply the plan and observe your behaviour for AT LEAST five days.

You will again be collecting detailed observations about the behaviour itself, the rewards and punishments applied, as well as any antecedents and consequences that you are controlling, avoiding, or retraining - that are part of your plan. Through this process, you should be able to see whether your plan was successful by examining the frequency of the behaviour now compared to its frequency earlier this term.In the report you should also evaluate your program by indicating what went well, what was challenging, and what, in retrospect, you would do differently if you were to attempt to change your behaviour again.

In the REPORT you are expected to:

1) Describe the target behaviour, your initial observations, and your final behaviour modification plan after addressing any recommendations I made to the earlier phases of the assignment (Observe behaviour and Plan a change). Even though you've already written about them in earlier stages of the assignment, you need to summarize these points for your final report.

2) Discuss the implementation of the program. Describe the main steps you took, how it felt, how often you were rewarding or punishing the behaviour, and any issues about the antecedents and consequences of the behaviour.

3) Directly compare the data you collected during the Observe phase to the data at the end of the program in the Apply stage.

4) Critically evaluate the program by discussing what went well and what you would change if you were to run the program again in the future.

5) Conclude whether the plan worked to change your behaviour and whether or not you think it was successful.

6)Finally, please include a numeric summary and comparison of the two sets of data using graph(s), chart(s), and/or table(s).

Please I need help with this assignment, this is what I wrote for my plan to change: "Decreasing time spent on devices."

Triggers or experiences of this behaviour:

  • First thing that comes to my mind when I wake up in the morning and the last thing I do before I go to bed.
  • When I am feeling bored
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Check my personal emails
  • Feeling uninformed and out of touch with what's happening around me.
  • Depressed and unsure of what's happening

Outcomes of the behaviour:

  • Feeling informed.
  • Feel like I wasted a lot of time.
  • Feeling satisfied and relieved from stress.
  • Feeling guilty when I am supposed to spend more time studying or spending time with my kids.

My chosen undesirable behaviour that I would like to change is decreasing time spent on my mobile phone.I discovered that my daily phone usage averages 9 hours when completing the observation assignment. Online study, boredom, and stress and anxiety are the main factors. The moment I wake up almost every morning, I immediately grab my phone and check social media updates while laying in bed. I also spend hours on the phone before going to bed. The best way to stop spending a lot of time on electronics is to punish me for it and occasionally reward myself for not doing it, which will help me change my undesirable behaviour.

I plan to change this behaviour by gradually decreasing the time to about 4 hours a day. In other to do this, I plan on doing the following: I try to put my phone away, especially before going to bed, so I don't wake up reaching for it. When I go over my desired time, I intend to punish myself by ordering my husband to take my phone away for the day or by moving all my calls to his phone and turning off mine. It will be awkward to answer calls on my spouse's phone, therefore the chat will be brief. Having my phone taken away would also force me to face the fact that I am making an effort to change. I'll have to re evaluate my priorities and do what needs to be done right now if I don't have my phone.

The reward could be for my husband to buy me pizza as it is my favorite food and the only one that I allow myself to eat. However, I already talked to my husband, and he agreed that he would get me pizza each week when I do not exceed 3 hours sitting on my phone. Additionally, I will feel more accomplished and proud if I receive a reward for not using my phone for more than 4 hours per day each week. This will motivate me to continue to save time and eventually cut back on my use of electronic devices each week. Another reason is that I want to reduce this unwanted behaviour, mostly because it has negative health effects. I can engage in more productive hobbies like exercising, reading books, and spending more time with family. Those changes will make my life more positive, cut down on screen time, and prevent me against health problems.
