Assignment Description In this assignment, you will write a report that inspects and analyzes a hacking scenario that happened to a university. The report should answer the below questions. 1- How did the attack happen? 2- How did the hackers implement such an attack, and what were the possible vulnerabilities in the system? 3- What was the aim of the attack? 4- Could the university have prevented this attack? How? 5- What is the impact of this breach? Background Information The university has an e-learning system, and the students have remote access to this system to have online classes. The university has webinars, and the students are informed about the webinars via the student emails provided by the university. The university has a web-based blackboard system that enables the students to connect and see their marks, attendance, timetable, course notes, and latest updates. Moreover, the university has a website. It gives information about the university, faculties, departments, courses, tuition fees, and whoever wants to apply to a study can register as a new applicant via email and apply to the university online. The case: The student data stolen, includes personal information such as birth date, name, surname, passport number. In addition, student numbers, school payments, passwords, and student emails are stolen. The hackers published some part of the stolen data, and threaten the university that they will continue to publish the rest of it until they get paid. In the end, the university had to pay to stop the hackers.
