ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this assignment is to create a project network diagram for a given set of activities. Many project managers feel the project network is their most valuable exercise and planning document. Project networks sequence and time-phase the project work, resources, and budgets. The network diagram will allow you to develop information about the project including the critical path.

ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS

You will then complete the following indiviudally: ( Please do on paper with diagram and answer all the question)

1. Using software of your choice (excel, word or PowerPoint) or paper, draw a Project Network Diagram (PND) based on the project information below.
2. Complete a forward and backward pass of the network. For each activity show the early start, early finish, late start, late finish.
3. Calculate the slack for each activity.
4. Identify the Critical Path for the project.
5. You are the project manager for this project and your team will receive a $1000 bonus for completing the project in 17 working days. You will also be penalized $500/day for every day over the 17-day limit. Based on your project planning, do you expect to receive a bonus or penalty on this project? If so, how much?
6. If you were to reduce the project duration, which activity(s) would you crash? Justify your choice.
