Assignment Requirements / Formats

1. Make a Project Charter for your project
2. Make a Schedule Management Plan for your project
3. Make a WBS for your project (this should define the deliverables. Aka "What")(MS Project file)
4. Define and sequence the project Activities (this should define the activities required to created/produce the deliverables. Aka "How")
5. Define the resources that will be required

Part 1:Project Charter

Your objective is to describe your project to someone who knows absolutely nothing about it currently! Be descriptive. You can use a project that you have already been working on, but I expect you to tailor your submission to the requirements of this assignment. You must use the project charter template provided on the Moodle page.

1. Provide a summary of the goals of your project
2. Provide a summary of the scope of your project, and a summary of the timeline of your project along with the project milestones.

Part 2:Schedule Management Plan

Make a Schedule Management Plan to define how you will manage the schedule in your project. You must use the template provided in Moodle for your plan. The plan should clearly define how the schedule will be managed. Remember, the schedule management plan does not include the schedule (the what), but just defines "how" you will manage the schedule.

Part 3:Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)

Make a Work Breakdown Structure for your project.You need to decompose the deliverables down to their smallest components. The rule of thumb here is that you should be using nouns to describe each element. You must use MS Project to create your WBS.

Part 4:Define/Sequence Project Activities

With your deliverables defined in your WBS, you will now define the activities required to create each deliverable. You only need to define the activities for the lowest level of the WBS for each deliverable. Again, you will define the activities as sub-tasks in your MS Project file and define the order in which the activities should be completed using the predecessors column in SM Project. Also include the details of each activity in the notes field (WBS Dictionary)

Part 5:Resource Requirements

Each activity will require resources to complete. You will use the resource sheet in your MS Project file to define all the resources that will be needed to complete the project. The resources can be people, materials, equipment, or cost resources. As you enter each resource, you should assign a cost to it, as you will need the costs to determine the cost and schedule baselines for the next assignment. You will assign the resources required to complete each activity. You will only assign the resources at the activity level.
