The interventionist approach to government means that government is responsible for creating a prosperous society and at peace. People have the freedom to pursue their self-interest in a way that does not destroy each other or their land as this is what such an economy requires (McCormick et al., 2019). As socialism has not created a prosperous and at peace society, it is not necessary to pursue the socialist vision any further. The minimally interventionist approach to government means that government will provide minimum services; mainly defense and law enforcement, courts, roads, and schools (Alvarez, 2020). The government protects the private property of citizens who were born in the country and all citizens are guaranteed protection under God, along with natural rights such as life and liberty, among others. On the other hand, a minimally interventionist government means that government will provide basic services, like courts and roads, but will do so at a minimal cost. The government pays for these services out of the resources in the nation through taxation. As stated by Alvarez, (2020) the government may also pay for defense and law enforcement services only if a threat is present. An example of this would be if a foreign power invaded the country and located on its land; defending the country would be paid for with taxes by everyone. However, no one in their right mind would consider getting out of bed to get ready to go fight in such a war while they will still be paying taxes on money earned during peacetime. Therefore, between the two, I believe the best approach is the minimally interventionist approach because Christians should not rely on the government to be their savior. God is the only true Savior and everything that comes after him. Instead, Christians should pray and trust in God that his will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven (Matthew 6:10). When it comes to defense, which is one of the services provided by the government, there are two major positions concerning this service. These positions are pacifism and just war theory. Pacifists believe that violence cannot be justified no matter what the cause; they believe that killing another human being constitutes murder, which goes against everything taught by Jesus Christ (John 15:13-17). Just war theorists, on the other hand, believe that violence can be justified against aggressors in a war (McCormick et al., 2019). This theory is based on Romans 13:14 where it is stated that "Let us walk properly as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness...." Pacifism means one should not use force to defend oneself from aggressors, and just war theory means one may use force to defend oneself from aggressors.
